Buy American! Unless your only option is a HARLEY.

A customer walked in to my shop and Impatiently stated "My car doesnt start, Whats the problem?"I responded with a smile-"Yep that sounds like your problem alright"----

May be the wrong stator? The diagrams dont show a red wire, they show 3 wires and frame ground.

Get an ohmmeter and read black and red to frame. The one with highest resistance (probably black) is for the ignition. The lights windings usually go a couple ohms, but with a cheap ohmmeter, its hard to tell between that and reading right to ground. Might have to look at the stator windings to prove which one is which, lights windings will take up most of the stator.
