They are flawed as you said to begin with but that doesn't mean that we can't love and enjoy them.

I contacted the CEO or someone high up at the Kawasaki plant and talked to them for quiet awhile. This was during my search for tecate OEM plastic and parts left at main warehouses and such. I basically sent them a very intellgent email asking some of the normal 3 wheeler questions. I used my Dept of Defense signature and letter head, so they knew I wasnt some young punk kid LOL . They actually called me back on this email....86waterpumper knows all about this conversation.

Well anyway as we went back to the 80's enjoying a few laughs and awesome times, I asked him the main question. Is it possible to make 3 wheelers again? He came back with a great answer....at first. . He said "sure any manufacture can make 3 wheelers now since the "ban" is gone. There are the positive and negative about doing that. Positive is that they could make a super bad performance 3 wheeler much cheaper than the quads due to the lack of front end components. The negative(which out weighs the positive) is there will be sue happy fools in the US just waiting to jump on the band wagon for a quick dollar. Too many Americans are out for the quick money and not want to work for it, so any open door they find..they jump at the chance. Another reason is it would take engineers years to try to update the specs on the now outdated trikes. And with those updates will come problems. They will have to work on this quite sometime to perfect the 3 wheeler once again which would cost thousands of dollars that might be be recooped if they didnt sell. They also said they didnt feel that there was a market for 3 wheelers anymore. He said "unfortunately" most of the people that love the 3 wheelers, love them due to the cost is cheap, alot cheaper than the quads. With that said, will 90% of the 3 wheeler enthusiasts purchase a new 3 wheeler? Probably not. Most of them purchase the 3 wheelers, due to the cheap cost to have something that can ride the trails/tracks/and snow just like the quads can do. I hate to sound like someone to discourage a wonderful dream.....but with every dream, it has to be delt with reality, and the reality of this I feel just wouldnt happen. "

This was the basic discussion he had with me. It was really cool to see someone that is high up in the industry agree that 3 wheelers were great and wouldnt mind seeing a come back......but he said the reality of life is grim.
I hope this shed some light on the subject...............peace

ahh fooey...i think if they started making them again alls they would have to do would be to put stickers with warnings just like quads and have people sign agreement apon purchase that the 3-wheeler is for expert riders only..then maybe they wouldnt have any lawsuits..besides nobody sues them when they get hurt ona Quad..unless it brakes or somthin like that

The *only* way I see any of the major OEMs bringing back a 3-wheeler is if it is a small-bore utility ATC.

The farmers, hunters, etc ALL love ATCs because of their superior manoverability, less likely to get stuck, and their lighter weight over a quad. I can't tell you how many offers I've had on my 250sx from this crowd.

So yeah, I could see Honda possibly making a 250cc 3-wheeler geared toward such an audience.

But a sport/race ATC? Never gonna happen again, period.

The consent decree(ban) on three wheelers is over but if the ban never happened I don't think a three wheeler would have been produced beyond 1988 or maybe 1989. The design is flawed for most folks and that's the problem, just a bit tippy on hills. Quads were the nautural progression. Funny thing is I am faster on my 250R three wheelers than any of my nicest desert racing 250R fourtrax's. If new three wheelers were produced it would kill the fun of finding that super clean 87 tecate.

    OK.......

I don't have any links for anybody, but I have found that there is a company in China that is making the old 90 or 110 and they also make a mini trail 50. I have also heard that they are or are going to make the old trail 70.

They also make a XR looking two wheeled bike.

All of these designs are obsolete Honda designs and I think Honda has licesened them to build these copies.

Also India is building copies of the old British bikes and they are now selling here. I think the Royal Enfield single is the most popular one that is imported here.

I posted that link a few weeks ago. I have contacted the manufacture again and have ask would they build a bigger bike. They said they can build almost anything l would like. My thought was would it easier to build something along the lines of a tiger, they proberly had the simplist of all the frames. No linkage rear suspension, etc. They may not be able to build a motor for it but everything else l would say, they would be able too.
Give me some feed back, as l may be going over there in Feb or March next year..

Someone design and build a frame that will work with 250R parts, updated suspension, and a 450R 4 stroke moter. Sell it minus the motor. Cant get in trouble and I bet something like that could sell 1000 units a year.

As for Poket Trikes, if it looks like this I will buy one
