    1983 Honda 183s

2 questions about the 1983 185s. Is the pilot screw the one on the bottom of the carb? How do you get oil into the front forks? What kind of oil does Honda recommend for the forks? How much oil goes into each fork? Thanks Tom

    Hi Tom.
The pilot screw is factory set but if you need to check to see if it has been messed with ,, the setting for it is 1 3/4 turns out to start with.
Start the motor and turn it in slowly clockwise untill the motor dies and at that point turn it the direction 1 full turn and adjust the idle as needed.

The forks are weird in so far as you need to drop the fork leg down + out of the tripple tree to get to the top to add/replace oil.
Honda says to use tranny fluid ,,, most folks buy fork oil in 10 or 15 weight for thier front forks nowdays. It will take about 3 ounces for each fork leg.
Fork oil drain is pictured towards the bottom of my manual scans.

Welcome aboard 3ww Tom ,,, john
