2 stroke is better than 4 stroke hands down. the new 4 strokes have the reliability of a 2 stroke any more. i am not impressed with them. yeah they are fast, but when the engine goes south, you are looking at upwards of 2000 dollars in labor and parts for a rebuild. now, i can take either of my 2 banshees put that 2 grand into the motor and have 80 plus horsepower that will prolly be more reliable than a mild modded new 4 stroke motor. i can put 400-600 hours on my banshees without a rebuild. that is pretty good. all these people that say 2 strokes are grenades, do not know how to set them up properly or maintain them properly. my banshees put out close to 50 horse with just pipes and boring and port and polishing. i have more low end than any 4 stroke, and i will bet anyone on that. i can stop my banshee on any hill(that is not vertical)halfway up , slip the clutch and keep on goin up. no 4 stroke can do that becuase they have no wheelspin.as far as the 2 vs 4 stroke deal lets look at somethin else. 4 strokes were made for emissions purposes. i know for a fact that 80% of 2 stroke owners burn synthethtic premix oil.i run it.all of my friends do. i know for a fact that they are not hurting emissions any worse than some chump runnin around with a 4 stroke that is jetted too rich or runnin around with whipped piston rings blowin the blues.if thay could afford to rebuild the fourstroke it would not be using oil. my 2 strokes are set so perfectly, that you see no smoke out my pipes at all.and 1 more thing about 4 strokes. most guys go get the most loud obnoxious pipe they can find. that really puts a strain on our riding areas. so it is a double edge sord. 2 strokes our accused of emissions problems, and 4 strokes are blamed for noise issues. bottom line is the govt. does not like people to have fun, especially if they cant track what you are doin or where you are doin it at. so they will keep implementing (new rules) to make atvs so hard to have fun on, and they will win.they already have banned snowmobiles from many parks, 2 strokes will be banned from federal and state parks by 2007 as well as 2 stroke boat motors and wave runners.once they weed out the 2 strokes, they will go after the four strokes in a new way. we live in a dictatorship society where politicians think it is right to control the things you do in your life.think about it. every time there is a complication in any thing, the law makers want to write a ( new law) to make it (safer for us) when in all reality, it is just a money makin conveneinece to them.i am not anti govt, i just miss the days when you could put your tennage kids in the back of a pick-up and go to a drive in theater.i mean most of us 30 years old and up, grew up in lead paint houses etc etc and went to asbestos filled schools etc etc, and we lived. we turned out ok.but the law makers have gotten their ideas in every area of life. from banning three wheelers, to lawn mowers or whatever else.i believe, if they concentrated on real problems in the world, we would have not been attacked on 9/11. our gas prices would not be gouging us, and we would not be in iraq right now, so on,so forth. dont get me wrong i love 4 strokes and all atvs in general. i have 2 four strokes. but i just say i prefer 2 strokes over the new four strokes.and i prefer (REAL FREEDOM) over some up- tight suit's perspective of freedom.just my 2 cents.lets get back to real independence, not dependance.that is when a dictator comes up in power, and trys to take over the world!
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

The rebuild cost is quite a bit different. If a thumper really erupts, it takes out a lot. The engine in my 500 dropped a valve, and it destroyed the head, cylinder, and the rod. That's spendy.
