ever seen a shorty dg exhaust for tri-z ?? pics

i cut 4 1/2 inch off the muffler tube
then matched that with the middle section, re-drilled rivet holes
looks cleaner and better than a stock one, whatca think??
now comes the fun part, polishing for hours

I have seen that done before just not on a tri-Z. I was in Oklahoma at the little sahara and a guy on a brand new GasGas, the 2 stroke one, stopped to talk and he showed me his silencer and told me that he cut it down like that for more performance. Real neat!
It ain't about the money, or even being #1, you gotta know when it's all over you did the best you could of done! And knowing that it's in you and you never let it out, is worse then blowin' any engine or any wreck you'll ever have!

I tried that but the tube that the packing wraps around needs that washer type thing on the end of it to keep it from fopping around inside, and the part I cut off was so nasty with oil there wasnt much of a way to weld or braze it onto the new shorter piece. I ended up hauling the pieces back up to the barn I think.

On a 2 stroke shorter is more bottom end, and longer is mor topend. For a thumper its the other way.

Question about this little trick. Does the round pipe looking piece the packing wraps around need to be longer then the section its inside of? ...to fit into the endcap I mean.

I'm doing this tomorrow. Guess I'll cut the outside with the mini grinder instead of the whole thing with the chopsaw. Those silencers weigh a good bit.
