"back in black" oldschool 83R project has begun! Installed repro # plate...

Heres another pic of my R...the # plate and shrouds are AUSSIEDUNERS (thanks tony) craftsmanship and he also supplied me with black air deflectors that bolt directly to the frame. When Im done, this will pretty much be all black and chrome, but somewhat of a replica of what the Team ATC guys raced in 83.

Very cool project, go with the look you want, its already unique looking.

Always like the looks of the air fooler over the liquid R, just lean and mean. Not so cluttered up as the the liquid R's.

Thanks guys! I've been wanting to do this awhile, I too like the look of the air foolers, yet I like the fender look alot on the G3's!! I also turned the garb bar around for the "old school" look after seeing some pics of races from '85. These are older pics as I dont have the # plate or sccops.

What tires (lower profile and smaller height) do you think what look mean for this. I ride a lot of gravel and trails so I need a harder compound. I have looked a bit, but cant make up my mind....

    Thanks!

Cheng Shin Ice Racing tires are great for hardpack. Thats what I run on my T3.

Hardpack, wet grass, root covered trails, soft sand, clay, and some pavement. Really nice tire with lots of grip and they wear real well. I run 20x11x9.

    From Saturday in the sandpit.

If i ever started regularly MXing my Z i would be getting one of those number plates for sure!.They look awesome.

If you need a harder compound, I would try the razrs. I have the 4 ply and I ride on gravel roads, and rough trails too. They work awesome, and still easy to slide with. Hope this helps!

The Cheng Shin is a harder compound then the Razrs on my buds Raptor and with all the slides and doughnuts I've done on pavement they show little wear.

Yeah those are all jumps I've built over time and she definately handles great. Started crossing up the bars in the air to add a little style. lol Theres over 10 jumps in the pit, a few berms and a rythm section, all from my shovel and rake. Thx

BGM love your T3 BTW...I may have to try them tires, but KINTORE'S description of where he rides is pretty much identical to mine.

SLOTHMINX: yeah his plates are sweet, and real good workmanship, plus they look just like they are from back in the day. this set me back $35 (s/h included) but we had previous arrangements made.

for those of you who jump your trike....what is stronger: offset bubs or whell spacers? What will have the least amount of stress placed on the axle. I know the strongest is to buy an extended, but Im not sure what to do?

I use spacers and haven't had an issue but they are the kind that need the new studs.

I would have bought wheels over the spacers but the T3 wheels are already 3+5 spacing so they would be pretty weak just to gain +2 a side ya know what I mean? Think when I can I'll be buying an axle.

If you can get hubs go with those and if you need new wheels splurge on offset wheels as well. Super wide! lol

This is my '83. They look good black, if I do say so.... My dad bought it for me in '83 and have had it ever since. I restored it in 2001 and decided to go all black and powered coated frame / swinger in aluminum.
