I have a Clymer manual. I can scan if you like. Have you looked at bikebandit.com, the schematics are somewhat accurate.

Ok it looks like #2 under rear wheel(also includes rear axle) It is like a spacer deal. Does the one part of this sit inside the carrier? I think it may because there is some slop in my rear end. don't really know though.

Without looking at the fiche I would say you might have forgotten to put the spacer in the carrier between the bearings. Does the spacer you have fit on the axle?
