at any rate can I remove all the plastic/rubber parts of my carb and soak it submerged in carb ckeaner to try and loosen everything up? ive cleaned it but something must still be in there.

not sure about the shock but I usually tear down the carb completely and soak in a dip for 15 to 20 min, scrub hard stuff with a fine wire brush and re dip, also fill a spray bottle with some solvent and spray and clean. After blow it while it is wet with solvent (wearing goggles) until it is dry concentrating on all the jet holes. I would then replace the jets applicable, they may look clean, but you will be surprised how well new jets and new gaskets work.

thanks man, I sprayed it good and used my compressor to blast stuff out. but something still has to be wrong. Im finally convinced this problem is fuel, becuase now my bike only runs with the choke on whihc is a recent development.

Get it running and smell the exhaust, if it smells like raw fuel (enough to gag you), then go looking for electrical problems. If its starving for fuel and the choke 'fixes' it, then the exhaust should be fairly clean.
