    ytm-200 questions???

ok guys i have a few questions...

last summer I was riding this thing, while shifting something broke...
I got off, and the shift rod that comes out of the case snaped off flush with the case??? what would cause this to happen? it wasnt a rock either cause it happened in my driveway.

so i got that fixed and runs good. but I had the clutch screw turned in so it wouldnt slip so much.. it went great this way. after i got it fixed it seemed the machanic i took it to left it a little looser. why would he do this? is there a limit on how much you can adjust?

and i was wondering is there any springs in the clutch mechanism that you could replace with stronger ones so it would raise the engagement like they do on artic cat 4 wheelers?

and what else can i do to the engine on this thing to get a little more out of her???

    thanks, Garrett!

Yes there are performance springs for your clutch, but it makes it nearly impossible to reassemble your basket----A fresh set of "Stockers" would probably get you in the ballpark----Check on a svc manual for proper clutch "Prelash" adjustment---If ya need a scan holler back-----

yeah i saw some heavy duty springs on ebay... do you have a coppy of the service manual? that would be great if you could scan those pages of how the clutch is adjusted. does it show how it is assembled?

oh do you think anyone makes a gas cap for it? the thing leaks and makes me smell like gas lol. I dont mind but others do lol...

    my email is GFravert@gmail.com

    thanks for the info.

Gimme a bit --Ill get your scans----I spoke to someone else on here and the stiffer springs cough out the snap ring after a round of shifts. The gas cap isnt to tuff --if you dont mind the cushy-chrome aftermarket---But a stock cap is gonna be hard-

BUT FIRST----Is it cracked---or is the vent plugged????

i dont really know if its cracked or pluged... I dont see any visible crack... so i guess its not cracked. if the vent is pluged will it leak like a siv???

so the stiffer springs arnt such a good idea?

oh, how many rpm's do these things turn before they float valves? never had it happen but curious. lol

edit. thanks for the e mail too!

dont be curious-----lets just say---under the most extreme ---you wont float the valves---You will run out of steam long before that happens.
Leaking fuel-----before you condemn anything----where exactly does it leak from???

it is leaking out of the top of the tank. i think from around the filler neck or the cap. i changed the rubber gasket in the cap and that didnt solve anything.. i havent had a chance to take the yellow cover off the tank to see if the tank is cracked but im still thinkin its the cap...

and how does this clutch work ? is it set up like a dirt bike clutch or is it more of a centrifugal (spelling) clutch like some auto- 4 wheelers have?

    thanks.

    Yep ya spelled it right,
Yes it is centrifugal--almost----your Clutch is at the top of the shift lever travel. lift the shifter --it releases the pressure plate , return the shifter to "REST" --it engages the clutch---pretty much like a cable + lever-but its all done internally
