Whats a good exhaust for the 400ex? One that will make it really really deep and loud.

Curtis Sparks is really loud, pretty decent preformance too. I had a White brothers E-Series full system on mine and I liked it. I think I'd go with Sparks. Or if Rossier makes a 400EX pipe I'd go with that.

400ex has tons of aftermarket exhaust, any aftermarket wil be loud an deeper but curtis sparks is probobly good, i see alot of DMC alien exhaust too.
WHY do you want to make it LOUD?
I hope your only going to run the LOUD pipe on a close race track.
I have been riding ATV's since 1971 I have lived the whole history of ATV's in all them years I have seen MORE riding areas CLOSED than opened 99% of the BITCHING about ATV's is the NOISE THEY MAKE!
I remember reading the pipe shoot out where they tested 17 or was it 27 pipes on the 400EX the BEST pipe made 3hp more than the Honda pipe and it was like 400 bux for the system..
Here is a tip that will make you MORE power for FREE, remove the stock exhaust and look in the part that connects to the engine, see the welds where they welded the pipe to the flange? Carefully take a die grinder and smooth out that weld so its no longer in the flow path of the exhaust then install make jetting corrections...
PLEASE rethink you noise making ideas I want my grand kids to have a place to ride as they grow up I DONT want to see more places closed because of NOISE complaints.
I've got a Pro Circuit T4 slip-on on my ex. It makes that nice tone you're descibing and it adds a lot of power over the stock unit.

Sparks is a great pipe, don't forget to check out HMF, rossier, and ESR too. Although if you have a small budget, a Pro Circuit or HMF slip-on would be fine.

Slip on is the only way to go unless you're doing major mods. That stock headpipe makes great torque.
