Thinkin bout converting it to a 3 wheeler, Or trading it for a nice R or X. The conversion looks easy on paper, but in the real world...kinda expensive and time consuming. Not sure if I am up for the Task.

brapp, it should, it was probably YOURS! LOL! Still need a pull starter and points. I will get to it this spring. I need a pit bike to ride around at TF06. (Maybe even race in the MiniMini Class! )

hey bump,i wish i would have converted my 01 cr,but to cut up a good bike like that is hard to do.bikes are alot of fun to ride, but, and aluminum framed cr250r,WOW.it would be siick, and super fast.i think those cr's make like 42-48 horse stock.

    f it dude,cuter up.build your self a uniqe,and super trick trike.it'll be the first i've seen.

you dont have to cut it up.....just make your own rear swinger with R parts and put on an entire 250R front end....done.
1985 Honda ATC250R drag trike with s/t kit and full drag CR hybrid motor and drag chassis...
1986 Honda ATC250R daily rider fully modded engine, +4 swinger,etc...
1997 Polaris Storm 800 triple, boyesen reeds, dg individual silencers, 240 studs, 123mph on radar...

EZ Peeps! The only thing that will be actually cut up WILL be the swinger. All the other parts...trips, subframe and plastics will be used as is or replaced with custom fabbed stuff. The bike will be able to be put back to original condition with just a purchase of a new swingarm. Now, ask yourself this....How many 01 CR250s are out there. Answer....LOTS! Now, ask yourself this...How many Aluminum Framed, Custom Built, One off Wicked as they come, ATCR250R 3 Wheelers are there? Answer....NONE....Yet! I think it would be really cool to see what could have been if they hadn't stopped building Trikes. This would be close to what they would have evolved into I suspect. Heck, even from a monetary point of view....I would think the 3 wheeled version of this bike would bring more money than the original Bike, don't you?

As much as I would love to see a CR250 converted, I don't think its a good idea. It takes alot of dedication, time and money to do that kind of swap. If you really want to do the swap, consider:

    1) ditching the inverted fork idea and use trike forks and triples. I would consider 86 Tri-Z triples w/ 250R forks and hub, or 86-87 T-3 complete front-end. (both these have no rake in the triples unlike the honda, much better steering) To much work for the inverts w/ no real gain other than looks.

    2) buy a set of used CR triples to use the stem out of, so you don't have to use the original.

    3) buy a second swinger and lower shock linkage for mods rather than using the originals.

    4) hope to find a smokin deal on a Banshee rear assembly (complete from caliper to hubs)

    5) Lastly find a buddy that can weld aluminum, cause you'll be doing alot of it! All new subframe, modded swinger, modded triples, etc.

    6) Mocking up rear plastic and seat? Who knows on this one. I'd probably go with 450R rear plastic and seat, since they kind of follow the same lines.

If you manage to accomplish all that, you could potentially end up with a seriously light, hauling ass trike like no-one elses. The good thing is, you would actually have a 3 wheeler!
