Post How bout a Labor Day weekend ride? Mabey Little Sahara

I am thinking about putting together a ride over Labor Day weekend. I am looking at Little Sahara in Waynoka Oklahoma. Something like Trikefest. I am not trying to take anything away from Trikefest and I have spoke with Howdy and he doesn't believe it will effect Trikfest. I know Labor Day weekend will be packed. I thought that might be good to kinda promote the site and the event both. Mabey get a better turnout. I haven't been to Trikefest so I don't really know what to expect from an event like this. Here is what I kinda had in mind. Feel free to post your feelings about it.

Here are some thoughts. This might be too much for a first time event. I was thinking mabey starting the ride on Friday and wrapping up on Monday. Throughout the weekend mabey having some sort of show with a couple of trophies, mabey some sort of little swap meet in there too, smoking a ham or something like that one night, and of course lots of riding. I was also thinking of getting some sort of sponsors and raffling off some parts or something of the sort. I don't know how to go about getting sponsors though. If the event turns out to be a success, I would like to make it an annual thing where people would look forward to it and come every year. I figured Little Sahara alone would draw attention itself. I also thought that Labor Day weekend would be good for people who have kids. I first thought about sometime in Oct., but with kids having school and coming into Christmas, I thought that might keep some from being able to show.

Here are a couple of concerns I have though. They are mainly with Little Sahara being the place to hold it. Riders who ride like the 110s and other similar machines, might have a hard time out there and might not have a good time. I know the guys who ride the sport trikes would love it. Also, with Little Sahara being as packed as it will be, are we going to have room for this. I don't know if Little Sahara will let us reserve a section for 3ww members or if everyone will just have to do for thierselves.

There are also a lot of other places in Oklahoma that might be good to hold an event at. You can check out Places2Ride.com and get a listing. I thought that the Red River looked cool to. It says it is about a 30-40 mile area to ride. I also thought that Gruber ORV looked cool, but there isn't very big. I haven't ridden either of these place though and I have only ridden Little Sahara 2 times. If you think you would rather hold it at one of these other places, a few of us can go down and have a small weekend ride to see what it is all about. I am all for that.

I know this is a lot. I have been thinking about it a lot about it. I guess I just don't want it to end up being a bust. Or only have a couple of people show. Let me know what you guys think. Any advice on anything (location, events, ect.). I want everyone who is going to attend to have an awesome time so post your suggestions.

    Thanks
    Scott

I could problaby do a labor day ride at Waynoka if a bunch of people are going to show up. I usually take my kids to Beaver Dunes that weekend.

Little Sahara is agreat place to ride and has nice facilities. If this trip sound slike fun to a bunch of people need to get organized now. I'm sure we would need to get some camping spots reserved asap.

Yeah, I was going to call Little Sahara and see about reserving an area for 3ww members, but I kinda need to have a rough count. I don't want to try to reserve an area for 20 people and only 2 show. Especially if I have to put any kind of deposit down.

I think I might be able to come to this. It would be Saturday before I could get there though (football game on friday). I also might be able to bring a couple other people(2 of them have 3-wheelers the other has a DS650).

Sounds like there are a few here that are interested. Do you guys have any suggestions? I am going to get in touch with Little Sahara and see if it is possible to get a section for 3ww members. I haven't been to Trikfest so I don't really know what to goes on at an event like this. I am planning on attending this year if everything goes smoothly. Should have some better ideas then. I will post up what Little Sahara says after I get a chance to call. My dad is in the hospital right now so most of my spare time is spent there, but once I get a chance, I will call and see what they say.

Suggestions? Hmmmm. I don't intend to do any racing, just play around in the sand during the day. A beer and maybe a fire at night sounds good, too. Just the chance to ride a new place and meet some of the members in person is all I need. It doesn't need to be filled with scheduled activities to be fun.

I will be interested too. What are the dates for Labor day, I don't have a calandar in front of me. A 'less busy' weekend would be fine with me. I agree with CorbinKale, I'll love to ride at a new place, but the meeting new people and members and visiting is all I need too. I've got a few freinds that really wanna go to LS too, maybe I can drag them along.

I agree with that. I love to ride more than anything. The reason I say that, I know of a couple of guys who own dealerships/shops that have some really nice R's, X's, and Banshee's. I was going to talk to them and try to get them out. Mabey see if they wanted to sponsor it. Mabey donate some parts or something to give away. I am more about the riding myself though. I was just trying to get everyone opinions.

Wrestling is pretty big here. I was more into football when I was in school. I never really followed wrestling much. I hope we can get a good turnout on this ride. As soon as my dad gets out of the hospital and get situated, I will get in touch with Little Sahara and see what we need to do.

We can set something up. We actually didn't get to have this ride. I would still be interested in putting together a ride at Little Sahara some weekend. Memorial and Labor Day weekends are pretty crowded. I was trying to get something together like Trikefest for those members that can't get to Indiana. I don't own a trike anymore. I currently have a 400EX, but I would still love to be a part of it. If we have it on a holiday weekend, 3ww would get more exposure. If we did it on just a normal weekend, it wouldn't be as crowded... If some members from this area want to set something up, let me know. I will do what I can to get something set up....
