CR250R Conversion to ATCR250R

Wow..long time no see on this one. Cool. I don't have any video of it MX'in. I did rip it around the big track at TF the year I had it there. It really wasn't too good on the track. With the stock subframe/seat setup it was a bit too tall. The steering was not the best either. That was my first crack at it and I didn't get it right. It wasn't horrible, but far from where it should have been. Ii also planned on doing more drag racing, so I built the swinger pretty long. That also contributed to its handling issues but mostly made it was really soft in the rear. It was a fun build.

It's where abouts now? I had some offers to buy it when I decided to sell, but I just couldn't get the money outta it that I wanted. In the end I kept some of the stuff that I could use for my other rides, and the rest was sold off in pieces. The triples and swinger was sold to one fella who said he was gonna build one, but I never heard from him again. It would be nice to find out. Thanks for the bump.

I also here that you are supposed to do a topend like every 30 hours or something on those?! I mean come on, whats the point of a four stroke if you have to give it even more $$$ and maintanence than a 2 stroke.

just reading this thread now and wanted to say the point of the 4 is so the dealer can make more money from the riders. its called corprit greed

K, so I'm hopping on the necro-posting bandwagon real quick...

I just spent the last hour reading this and get to the end, only to find out it was parted out.

It was like watching the 6th Sense and finding out at the end Bruce Willis was dead all along!

I did notice the rear fenders and seat sat too high. Should feel slightly more chopper-ish, IMO

AWESOME build.

I'm not gunna start a 4t/2t debate, but I can vouch for a guy that did minimal maintenance (oil changes whenever), was on the original valves and everything else in the engine, and had well over 300 hours on his 08 yz450f. The guy beat the crap out of it, it spent most of it's life at 12 O'clock it finally go so low on compression that it ate all the oil and locked up. It unlocked but sounded bad, and you could crank it by hand. He figured it didn't owe him anything. It's been sitting since.

The choice to go with the aluminum honda frames was a good one! The 02 CR I had a while ago was a great platform and responded to turn well.

LOL. This is my good buddys build. This bike was at TF06. It did great at the drags. Looked unreal. The brakes were so good I remember it doing 90degree stoppies. A little top heavy. But that was the only downfall. Speedbump had some mad hours into this build. He is a true undercover Scientist in my eyes. Super smart and creative!
