I still cant figure out my golf cart. (LT 230 S) only starts when pulled down the road, then runs great. New top end, plug and carb rebuild, just cant kick start it. any intelligent replies wanted!

Sounds like low compression :?:That blaster motor i am getting needs a top end but it will run if pulled behind a truck or something

I dout it's low compression cause he just rebuilt it. sounds like your timing's off a little bite. you probly got it jup's like one tooth on the sprocket or something. I had teh same thing happen on a 200x. check all your timing mark's agian and check the timing chain tension.

I agree 1010% with dogger on this one. I would almost bet my life that that is what is wrong with it from everything you have said in the past.Check the timing, I betr you'd be suprised.

ok guys, it looked DEAD NUTS correct when I assembled it. Im willing to tear it back apart and try again, But Im not 100% sure on what to do, after the cam sprocket is APPARENTLY at its correct position. I have moved the location before, no results. Im stumped. How can you "check" the timing on this thing? there is no sight window in the side case., you gotta drain the oil and take the side cover off...............

Take the plug out and heat it with a candle or lighter fora few minutes. If it starts right up after that you know it's a coil.

I hate to be a pain, but I've had 2 lt 230's qne was really hard to start. I reset the valve lash, and it would start on 2 kicks. Try it you'll like it!

I've seen a rebuilt 200x with 10.25-1 not have compression after a fresh rebuild. Well, not as much compression as it should. I took out the spark plug, slowly kicked it a few times put the plug back in and it had compression (yes the plug was tight to begin with). Maybe the rings were stuck for a bit, not sure, but it runs fine now.
