I have a 85' Big Red that to go into reaverse I don't have to pull the lever on the handle bars, just shift down, I was told this should be posible but it runns fine, why and or how is this happening?

My Rides
225DR Yamaha(unknown year and rough)
So to be looking for a Tri-Z to rebuild
Could be the cable is stuck in the pulled position ( I have seen this before ). Another possibility is the one plate inside the motor may have come loose or is missing.
Howdy
Actually my old 85 SX had the same problem. It was due to the cable was too short. I later found out that it was routed incorrectly and it was too short that way. Check your cable and make sure it is routed correctly and then adjust it as much as possible at the engine area.
