    A little clutch advice?

    The clutch on my 85 Z doesn't quite feel right to me. Its got a little play in the lever like it should, but it doesn't engage until the lever is almost all the way out. Although I don't notice any slipping when I accelerate hard, I'm thinking its time for a new one. What do you guys think?

    Also what can I do to this thing to make it fast? Any suggestions on a parts list and where I can find them? I'm kinda 2 stroke illiterate right now but I'm learnin fairly quick.

    if you pull the clutch cover off there is a adjustment screw in the middle of the clutch try adjusting that it might be out too far try screwing it in to take up some of the slack!! Screw your adj. on your lever in so its about a 1/4 out then adj on the clutch .

    theres a lot of things you can do.first I would get a DG pipe and silencer,to let it breathe,port the cyl. and get a good set of reeds with a reed spacer,run the best gas and oil you can,adjust the jets ,these would be a start! and the most easy to get more power! good luck.

    Thanks I'll try that and see it helps the clutch out any. Is there a gasket on clutch cover or is just the good ol gasket in a tube? I'll get a DG pipe for it as soon as I come across one for a good price. What exactly do the reeds do? What kinds of different ones are there?

    If it aint broke, dont fix it. The adjustment screw on the only takes out or adds slack in the clutch mechanism. It will only help you if your clutch cable adjustment on the lever is all the way in or out. If you have adequate slack in in the cable, and it disengages okay when you pull it, and it does not slip, Id suggest leaving it alone.


    If you are "two stroke illiterate", I wouldnt suggest doing any mods until youve learned to get it dialed in and running right in its stock form, and can run it at its max potential first. Ive found very few people who can run a properly setup and good running stock TriZ at its full potential, myself included.
