Don't know of many issues with the first gen T3. Look at the rad hose mounts on the rad to make sure they arent cracked or leaking, check for weak spark and if possible pull the side cover to check the flywheel for up and down movement (crank bearing play), turn the axle to check its straightness. Just basic stuff you'd look at when buying any bike IMO. Nothing stands out in my head as something I'd immediately look at. Just look the bike over carefully and you'll be fine. Don't kick the tires...

Hey there sblt500r, The first thing you need to look for is spark, alot of T-3's had a problem with stator/flywheele's!!!!!! But The good thing is that RICKY STATOR has made a better one and is more reliable! After that yes look for straight axels and swingarms. Also make sure that it's not honda red!!!!!!!!!
It ain't about the money, or even being #1, you gotta know when it's all over you did the best you could of done! And knowing that it's in you and you never let it out, is worse then blowin' any engine or any wreck you'll ever have!

check all the mounting tabs on the radiator. stand behind it and look at the bearing carrier mounting tabs. may have to get close but they may be bent to the chain side. check for spongyness in the rear shick.

yeah i want to get an 85-86 250r. but this guy has been pestering me, and i haven't been able to find a 250r that needs work for a good price. i want to make it mine, ya know! plus i want to get rid of my rm 80 and he wants it.
i'm going to go over the trike good. i was just wondering if there was any problems that were specific to it. and supposably it has a new ignition, and is all original with $1500 invested??

well if you dont know what to look for then grab some pics of it, post them here and we'll pic it apart for you. if it has a new ignition i wouldnt worry too much about anything other then if it needs crank bearings. and those arent hard to change if you know what your at.
