need help with reed cage/rad valve on a 250r ???

ok heres the deal i have an aircooled 250r (1983) and i want to get a boyesen rad valve for it. im going to order the one for the trx250/atc250r. now form the picyures ive seen of the rad valve for the 250r it seems to have a curve on the intake where you attach the rubber boot. im afraid that with the angle that the carb mounts to the valve that either i wont be able to line it up with the airbox. also if i remove the airbox and use a clamp on filter with the angle of the intake tube will the carb and filter hit the frame??? anyone familiar with this setup ? please help i want to order but dont want a part thats not gonna fit then have the hassle of trying to return the part. or having to re sell it

a measuring tape, i think, would go quite a long ways in this situation.
