    Mugen 250r pipe

I'm 99 percent certain this will only fit the Mugen cylinder, do your research before bidding, I know SUDCO had one similar for $50 bucks a couple of years ago. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting

I think you might be wrong!!

Man that 1% will bite you in the butt everytime! It does fit the the 250R.

I had Mugen's pipe on my '81 with the 250cc stock cylinder. I just bought a brand NEW Mugen 360 kit, from Rick Horavat. Someone was here was talking about the same kit back in November and if $1650 was a good deal or not (they should have bought it, ITS PERFECT). Anyway... the Mugen pipe fits both the 250R stock cylinder and the Mugen 360cc kit I bought.

Hmmmm, I got my information from the dude at SUDCO, I would expect him to know what he's talking about. They had a closeout on the pipes and he had told me that they only fit the mugen cylinders. I'll do a search on the posts because I know a few others seen the same ad and called.

I'm sure he did. And I but another one if he had one.

But for a brand new mugen 360 kit, not just the cylinder and head. It came with a new pipe and springs, reed cage and spacer, new 36mm Mukuni carb, intake boot, NEW Nickaseal lined cylinder and new head, new piston and rings, full engine gaskets set (the case needs to be splint for machining), Air filter, brackets, and some heavy duty clutch springs and all instructions and literature, in the box. The only thing I didn't get was the silencer.

Do the math on the parts in the kit, factor inflation into the cost, and the fact that nobody else has one (NEW). It makes the Hondaline 300cc look sick by comparison. '83 250R - 21 hp stock, '83 250R w/ Honda 300cc kit - 27 hp, and the Mugen 360 - 36 hp. Besides, I have 2 hondaline 300cc kits lying around that nobody can get pistons for.

I saw a 300cc Hondaline kit w/ piston go for over $800 on e-bay less than 45 days ago, USED! That was a good deal?????

I'll check my pipe on the 300cc hondline cylinder I have on the shelf and get some photos.

I tried to call "sudco", it took a little while but, they don't have any more of them. They said that "they have 6 or 7 Mugen pipes for the CR-250 and that they would NOT work for the ATC".

From what I can tell is MUGEN only made one pipe for the 81 -82 250R and that the worked on the stock 250 and their 360 kit. For reference, I went back digging through 3 wheeling and Dirt Wheels magazines found their ads and an article on the install of the kit.

Some people have said they have a Mugen 300cc kit, Mugen never made a 300cc kit, confused with the honda kit.

O.K. a picture won't work. But I did measure the inside diameter of the Mugen pipe, at the flange, and a DG pipe for an '82, and the stock Honda pipe from a '81. With the bushing inside the mugen pipe , they're all the same.

I had bushings made to fit inside the pipe, and are removalble. That way it will work on the stock 250R.

Sudco did state that the Mugen pipe only fit the Mugen cylinder. I spoke with them a couple years back also. It doesn't mean that they weren't wrong though.

I don't know about that pipe specifically, but some shops suggest that you put an insert in the front of your pipe to increase bottom end power.

I did go back and look at the article in the July '83 DW, and you mostly on. The stock numbers are 25 hp.

The '81 R was only rated at 21hp. I guess I should have stuck to the same machine when doing the HP numbers.

    Thanks for the correction.
