Im tearing the top end apart but cant get the cam chain loosened to get it off. took the tensioner off the bottom of the motor. Didnt make a difference. Do I take the cam sprocket off or what. If so how do I do that?

Yes take the bolts out of the cam sprocket, then you can pull the cam out, the Sprocket will drop down, and pull the head, dont let the chain+sprocket fall Down intpo the bottem end, its a PITA to get out again.Originally Posted by dooner17

Look on the rings, if you take them off, on the top side of them near the ring end gap should be a number, if its standard Bore and rings it will say STD or just a T, if its oversized it will normally have a number like.50 or something, also on the top of the piston, you will have to take some scotch pads or wire wheel to see the stamp in the top if its oversized.

gota grab the 1 ring endgap on the top, pull it up and kinda twist the piston off it.....hard to explain...if you havent put rings on before i suggest you order 2 sets so your not Cursin when you break your first one.Originally Posted by dooner17

Get a manual. They explain what to do, that is what they are for. If you have to, take the piston to the dealer and have them measure it.
