I'm sure it will, it works great on the SX and the R. You simply have to wire it up in parallel to the leads on the 200X headlight. Different width triple clamps require flipping the rubber straps around, thats all...

You need a regulator in there though or you will pop those $22.00 headlight bulbs, you should be able to pick one up from dennis kirk for 10 bucks...

Hey Dave, whats up. Whats different about the 200X regulator versus the other ATC's?? I thought they all regulated the voltage to a voltage any headlight could be used.

I don't remeber the 200x having a regulator. its seemed on one of my bikes I had wired a 350x light up, and popped both bulbs, I'll be dipped if I can remember which one, but I'm pretty sure it was the 200x...

You know i don't like the early 's red motors, but for some reason that red on the 200x motor looks awesome. Sorry to steal the thread, just needed to get that off my chest

Maybe it had a bad regulator?? Anything with a lighting coil has to have a regulator doesn't it???

Anything with a lighting coil does not have to have a regulator. 83-85 200x did not have a regulator. It depended on the load of the headlight bulb to limit the voltage. That is why on that trike if your headlight bulb burned out, your tail light would get blown. You can use a 350X regulator to protect the headlights. The reason the 350X headlights are at risk is that when you power on the two lights in parallel, one of them will come on faster than the other. That may cause it to blow, and then the other light by itself can blow.

If they were wired in series I can see a problem but in parallel how can one light work different then the other? it's parallel....

Also, I've been running these on my 2 SX's without any problems for about 2 years. Should I be using 350X regulators?? They seem to work fine with the SX voltage setup yet in stock form the SX runs a single light like the 200X.

The 350X bulbs are in parallel. The way a light bulb works is it has to heat up to make light. Untill it heats up, it draws more current. The two bulbs do not heat up at exactly the same rate (we are talking about fractions of a second difference here) The stock 200x setup depends on the 60 watt headlight bulb to limit the voltage of the stator. When one 35 watt 350x bulb heats up faster than the other one, it may not provide enough load to the 200x stator, the voltage will spike, and the bulb will blow. Then you are left with just the other 35 Watt bulb, and it may blow too. Its cheap insurance to add a 350X regulator to the trike to protect the expensive bulbs.
