Hmmm, I have seen a 2-stroke Diesel before ( i think it was a detroit but Im not sure). Nothing quite like that though. Very different..

2003 Polaris Sportsman 500
There are 3 kinds of people in this world, Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what the hell happend.
Way cool. I wonder how torquey it is.

2014 Yamaha WR450F
2008 Yamaha TW200
1975 Honda CB400F
that is ideas like that that make the world evolve, but seems a lil complicated to be practical, btu bet it would make insane power.
The prototype engine at an SAE meeting last year weighed 270lbs. Now get this...
It dynoed 325hp, and 590ft lbs of torque
Its also very very effecient. Estimated to be around 90mpg in vehicles weighing about the same as they do today.
Yeah, if you've ever seen a 2 stroke diesel, it was an old detroit. They were in everything from Oliver tractors, Gmc semis, and even heavy studebaker trucks. They were known for being low on power and noisy as hell.
Field Marshall tractors also had single cylinder 2 stroke diesel engines. I have an old oliver 88 but it has a GM straight six, if your looking for a hellishly powerful small tractor, old turbocharged Olivers with the GM diesel had an excellent power to weight ratio. That diesel has a cylinder configuration similar to a boxxer gas engine, the opposed cylinders help build lots of power.

opposed cylinders make the engine much more smooth as well. I'd like to see this engine in a vehicle, see what it will do ad how long it will last. Its ingenious, awesome design, i like it already. Problem is that its a 2 stroke, dont think that will go over to well with emissions.
There was something in the article said that it could not pass the emissions unless it was equipped with some sort of an electronic turbo. But after they got that on it and worked the bugs out it would be just as clean burning as anything else out today. Awesome.
That is cool. Now how are we going to be able to put them on our triks. I hope Louis don't see this thread because we will have the engine on one of his triks by TF. Maybe that will not be a bad thing. LOL
