Scooters !!!! anyone ride those ?

Ok.... ok.. i know.. it's a scooter.. lay on the jokes. i'm ready for it.

But.. get this. I got my hands on 3 honda Lead 90 scooters.. 90cc 2 stroke, just like the vespas or the Aero scooters.. direct from Japan !

The stickers on the thing and the VIN are all in japanese, 2 of them have 20,000 kms and the other ( the one i'm keeping ) has 7000 kms.

I got them for an awsome price.. i HAD to pick them up.. i remember as a kid saying to myself " I will NEVER ride one of those.. ".... but guess what..!!

All 3 are non-running right now.. all parts are there.. but the gas was drained and they have been sitting for a few years i'm told.. can't wait to get them going.

I have just spent 30 minutes talking to about 10 different people from the DMV to find out if i need a license to drive this thing or not.. no one knows !!!!.. imagine that !

but.. small bike.. big fun !! and 60 + mpg !!!!!

I sold mine a little over a year ago, I had a Yamaha QT50, before that I had a Yamaha CA50 Riva and a General 5-star (top tank model). I might try to find another one this summer, they are just a blast to ride around town on.

Mine are 90cc 2 stroke.. and the only indication that they are is a sticker on the front fender... i may remove this and get a 50 sticker.

The cops don't bother you on scooters.. hell if you are speeding.... well. nevermind.. lol...

Can't wait to get it going !

its already derestricted. the zumas are not restricted from the factery. theres no flang in the pipe and no washer behind the variotor (sp?). now the yamaha vino is a different story they are restricted to 30mph and 40mph unrestricted.

Scooters are like fat chicks, they're fun to ride until your friends find out. With that bit of wisdom out of the way, those look pretty cool, i need to find one for a pit bike.

I have a couple old ones. A 76 express, 79 puch, and another un-nameable. I built a 98 elite with my buddy that is currently running a consisten 58mph. I have gotten it higher but the average is around 58. It has a 70 kit, pipe, different clutch, cdi box, and it is getting a new carb and intake, and final drive gears in the next few weeks. He finally got pulled over on it one week ago. 50 in a 35!! It is now at the point were it becomes dangerous. With the final drive gears we can expect speeds right around 70 mph.

Aparently i could bolt up a CR 80 carb to my Lead90 and a pipe has been made to fit in the past... i may try this on my spare one !
