    86 Tri-Z Question

I always thought the 86 Tri-Z had the gas tank in front of the seat and the airbox under the seat like all other ATVs. But in all the pictures I see of 86 Tri-Z, they appear to have the gas tank under the seat and the air filter in front of the seat like the 85s, what gives? I appreciate any answers.

as far as i know the 85 and 86 where the same. with the exception of the forks, six speed, tires and location of the radiator overflow bottle. i myself have the gas tank relocated where the airbox went and now just run a K&N filter off the carb. no more stupid fuel pump here. hope this helps some. mike

The 85 and 86 tri z's used the same gas tank set-up (under the seat). As for the forks the 86 had 10 inches or travel and the were 39mm compared to the 9.2 inch 35mm 85 forks.

Thanks a lot for the info. I thought the bike I just got this week was an 85 with 86 plastic, but it indeed is a 86. Cool. Thanks again.
