I've got an 83 ytm 200 and have noticed the compression release cable,but have no idea where it hooks up to.I know where it goes on the cylinder,but I can't find any kind of lever for the other end.The cable ends near the tailight.

It should hook into the pull starter, check bikebandit or Yamaha for the parts diagram to see how it hooks in.

the cable hooks up to the recoil and goes around to the exhaust valve cover
