Thread: Problem with the 125.

    Problem with the 125.

    Well i got it running on monday but it wont go into gear and it makes funny noises. I think it might be the shifting shaft. Should i get it welded or buy a new motor for $250 also I already looked for the part for it and couldnt find it so thoose are my 2 options.

    To me it sounds like the stopper pawl may be broken. The stopper pawl holds the shifting tumbler to keep it in gear. If it's broken the tumbler can turn freely and thus the tranny could be inbetween gears. If the tranny is between gears then the gears could be rubbing causing a clattering noise from the tranny.
    A quick forum search for "stopper pawl" and you should find the info and some pictures of it.

    Yeah, I had a 125M that did the same thing. The litle paw broke off and took a chuck of the case with it. Had to get a new motor. $250 Is sky high for a new/used motor for that thing. You shoud be able to get a good one on ebay for $80 -$150 tops. I did. From what I was told, that is a weak point of the 125M. They guy I got mine from said he was pulling something really heavy when it happened. Too much stress and tore it loose. Howdy is right.

    I had it in gear yester day and was driving it for about a min but every so many feet it would stop and the wheeles wouldnt move so i had to rock it to get it going agian. the noise is a crackling noise if as somthing is scraping on it. I can shift it but it wont catch into gear it just stays there. And when the bike is in low gear i cant even push it out of my garage. and it only goes half way to high gear but i can move it.
