I just picked up a tri zinger-A Question

    Hi all,

Just picked up a pretty decent shaped tri zinger yesterday. Runs great, looks pretty good too!! Just a few quesitons - #1, where is the VIn and how do I identify the year from this? #2, can someone please explain to me the drive train and how it works. I knew they where shaft driven, but never knew (until last night) that they are automatic, as in you don't shift gears.

Keep in mind, this is my only Yamaha, so I don't know too much about them. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Thanks all.
RIP - Yamahondaman!! You will never be forgotten!

The vin is on the neck of the frame at the steering shaft -on the right hand side--also on the flat of the engine----you cant pick a year out of the vin-(Or at least I dont know how)----The gears--???What gears???--(LOL) -its a single speed with a centrifugal clutch---You will notice that it should only start with the switch in start positon---but it wont rev----There is a rev limiter to keep it from taking off at start-up--Once its running and warm--change to run position----It wont start in run position.
Buy American! Unless your only option is a HARLEY.

A customer walked in to my shop and Impatiently stated "My car doesnt start, Whats the problem?"I responded with a smile-"Yep that sounds like your problem alright"----
