Rear axle seal on '85 Big Red

    Hey there everyone

I'm a new member to this forum. I just picked up my new ride. It's my first three wheeler (I've ridden them plenty). She's an 85 250es Big Red. She's all original, and in mint shape. Well, except for one thing. On the rear axle, on the left, there is a small leak. The guy I bought it off of had the seal, and assured me that it was not a big deal to replace, but does anyone have any suggestions/thoughts/warnings about changing this? He couldn't find the manual for it, but said that he was going to send it in the mail once he found it. What is the level that the oil should be at in the rear end?

Any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Sol.

Here is a great source for manuals. Just print out the PDF file and you have your manual.

Also the seal he gave you probably is the rear diff seal. The axle is actually dry but you have seals in the diff and in the brake hub area.

I fill the diffs right up to the top too. There isnt a check screw on the big red, just pour it in slowly til it comes out the fill hole.
