I personally wouldn't do it.. that little bar probably strengthens it alot..
If you do cut it out, make sure you put another one in there that doesn't get in the way of the new motor.

Just redesign the bar after the motor is in. Make sure to brace the frame.
what motor are you putting in there?
I'd say you could move it further back without much problem, but I would not reccomend removing it entirely.
Technicly Couldnt you remove it as long as the Frame is bolted to the motor on both sides down there? Would keep the Frame Flex down...just be all on the Case's might crack them tho..

I thought about cutting it out and moving it forward, then cutting that same piece out of a cracked frame I have and putting the extra one back further. I also have to come up with a way to mount a battery box. I will be using electric start with the new motor. I will post some pics asap. The motor looks awesome. One more thing, will a 250sx or 350x headlight fit on my 200x? I like the way they look much better. Does anyone have one they can sell?
i have a NICE 85 250r light listed on ebay. it is MINT!! and it will fit.
That is a nice looking light. I will keep that in mind. I hate how the 83-85 200x's headlights mount. There rattle traps. Any idea on the battery box?
Sounds like a cool little project you got going. Just thought I'd add that if your going to switch to a 350x headlight then you should run a voltage regulator to keep from blowing bulbs.
Here's what I did for a battery box. It came with a kit I used for adding a battery for better lights. It would probably be hard to find another one but maybe it will give you some ideas.

Your battery box looks like worked out great. Thanks for the idea. I planned on mounted it almost like that, but fowards a little more. Where yours is will work better because the holes and bolts are already there. Any idea where I can get a box like that?
I wanted it a little further forward also, and I will probably move it one day because I miss my tool kit. The reason it's where it at is because it only took minor work to the battery box to get it to fit there. The kits are rare so I don't know where you could get another one. The battery box would be the only thing you needed from the kit anyway. Since your already planing on doing a little custom work to your frame, Id take a trip to the junkyard and look for a battery box that you could make fit, and do all the work/welding the same time.
just look on ebay for a 4 wheeler battery box. they are on there all the time
I checked Ebay, all of them mount through the top instead of the side. I found one that looked good yesterday, but cannot find it today. Most of them are made very specific to the frame they go on. Not really many like Muddy200x has, but I will find one.
