Seeking advise - Maximizing HPower 200X - moved from OPEN

Hello,

I am new to three Wheeler world so excuse me if I dont do this right ;-)

I have two 85 Honda Trikes. A 350x and 200x. I am presently restoring the 200x and am looking for advise on increasing the Horse power.

Specifically I would like to know if anyone has advise on how far you can go
when it comes to borring the cylinder to a larger size for added power.

I think I've decided to avoid high compression as I want the trike to be reliable and want to use regular gas. (if this is dumb tell me so I wont be insulted).
Soo I'm seeking advise on how far I can go oversizing the cylinder for added power without going high compression.

I want to try and avoid any pitfalls that more experienced rebuilders have tripped over. I dont want to introduce overheating, or other engine problems. I just want as much power as I can get without compromising the integrity of the engine.


**** Below are some facts about the engine that may be revelent.

* Right now the bike has a DG exaust system and the K&N air filter.

* I've purchased a Munki 34 mm carb to replace the stock, 28 mm I believe, carb.
It will be a twist throttle when I'm done.

* I've installed a 13 took drive sproket and bumped up the driven sproket from 38 to 40 tooth.

* The rear axel is extended 2.5 inhes on each side. (not that it matters)


I've been riding three wheelers for a long time. I started back in 85 or 86 with a
batch of about 5 Honda 110's I got frond a business friend that owed me money. They were perfect at the time because I had a family with younger kids.
Now I just want to go FAST!

Any advise from rebuilders on this topic will be much appreciated.

ahh!!! 34mm CARB?! The original carb on the 200x was a 24mm carb...DANG but ok I made my 200x a so-so "race trike" . I used everything and have the stroker crank in a box just don't have time to put it on yet. What i did, was go through www.powroll.com . This site is awesome. I put the 198cc kit, midrange cam, stiffer valve springs, bigger valves, XR200R carb, ported an polished head, UNI filter, Cobra pipe, and the wiseco 10:25:1 piston, or as i believe it is that compression i am not all that sure. Also, as i said before, i have the stroker crank but just haven't put it on. This is makes the trike very quick, but if i were you, I would put the money into the 350X. I mean all the mod's that i did make the 200x an awesome trike(with the crank) on the track but i am sure a 350x(no doubt really) with good suspension would beat it. If i keep it for a while more, I am going to put the crank on it and put heavier duty clutch plates and springs. And find a better bottom end because my kicker gears are really not all that great and possible progressive springs and possibly an oil cooler for cooling. Will probably put more money into my R though. Good luck! And we need PICS

EDIT: to answer your questions, overheating is not much of a problem with my trike so i wouldn't worry to much about it. To run regular petrol, go 10:25:1 and NOT 12:1 or else you will need race gas.

You mentioned your kick start gears were not good. Is it that the Kicker does not always engage right away when your at the top of the range. Wont "catch" until your at least part way into a kick? Well if so its a common and known problem. In fact, back in the old days, honda was fixing the problem for folks. Like a recall for a defect. The primary problem is the Spring strength. So dont buy someone elses old kicker gears and expect a difference. Been there done that, no workie.

I've been looking for the notice from Honda, (cant find it right now but I'll post it after I find it if anyone is interested. Yes I had an official notice from Honda derscribing the issue and how to fix it... but you need their replacement parts....
someone on EBAY had NOS kits for the problem and posted the Honda notice with it. DArn wish I could find it. well anyway its true so ... for whats it sworth.. there ya go.

I belive Howdy, on the foums here posted that honda Bulliten....I know i have seen it somewhere.
