Build a flat tracker.... How would you do it?

I told myself I was going to build a dedicated flat-track bike this season. For no other reason than I just want another project.

So now that I have my MX racer done, my trail bike bought, and the 500R about 90% complete, it's about time to start thinking about it again.

Just for "food for thought" How would you guys do it?

I have some radical ideas right now, but nothing set in stone.

I would but an HRC flat track kit, get an ESR310 kit and a 38mm carb, clamp on filter, +2in swinger....... I've been thinking about building an ice racer so thats what i would do so i could lat track race in the summer.....

Actually most of the flat track racers used a +1 or stock length swinger. You got some killer trikes man, so I am sure you have some killer ideas. Wide axle, sexy hoosier tires, 10" front wheel, short track kit of course, and more. But personally I would like to see a nice Tri-Z flat track racer, now that would be different cuz there are alot of honda racers out there. Just a thought.

Whatever you do, keep the motor bore Stock 250cc because as i remember, 250cc means 250cc! So this is what i am doing to mine, but your's will be a liquid cooled R i am guessing? 200x front end cut fork springs, Wiseco piston, low to mid port job, 30mm carb, stock swinger, durable +2 axle, carlisle flat track tires, and pipe and silencer. Number plate and cutting the steering stops will be on my list as well.

A 350X is where I would start. Lower it, widen it and make the lock to lock as much as possible.

The fat tire Tecate is a great place to start too.

this is personally what i would do.....
    Tri-Z250
    PV mod
have the cylinder and head milled for a mx style port job
bottom end rebuilt with yz490 rod
    Hoosiers all around
whole banshee rear end... stock length..
    +4 axle
put a marvin shaw shock on the back...
    build a adjustable shock strut
chop down the front forks LOW....
do the build a top mount tank like the one guy from the site did
that or do the mother of them all but its not going to be cheap
    ATC250R 86
87 long rod motor with MACHINED 330ESR kit with TRX11 porting
    41mm keinin
    short trak tank kit
    adjustable lowering link
cut down forks... with the little springs taken out
    Hoosiers all around
    88 trx250R rear end.. COMPLETE
then chrome it... PC it Black... slap black plastics on... and put silver numbers 666

Haha I dont think a TRX swinger should ever be in the same paragraph with a 330 kit.
