I guess that I would probably look at the tiger trike and set up similar as they was used a lot for flat track

I like Jeb's Z. You don't see any like that. I know my bike is the generic Honda, but I really do race flat track with my bike, so I built a Honda for the same reason that people condenm them. ... they're all over the place and parts are easy to get. Not to mention the motor options available.

Anyway, here is a sneak peek at my "new" R. I still have a long way to go, but I'm making great progress. I still need a bunch of new OEM odd items, a 10" front rim and tire, etc, but the bike is coming together nicely.

Chris, are you ever going to come out to TrikeFest? I'm dieing to see that bike in person.

Better yet, lets get together for some flat-track racing! Your bike looks real similar to what I was thinking of for a flat-tracker. TRX swinger, no link rear shock, 200X front end, Aluminum pegs/nerfs, and lots of horsepower!

    Hi Guys

I will post pics when it's done. I have a series of restoration pics.

I won't be at Trikefest this year, maybe next. I have a newborn, so life is pretty much stationary right now.

I'd love to race with you some day, but as I mentioned, I'm pretty much a home body for now.

    Here's to horsepower.......not a CR500, but very fast.

all you need for an R is a +2 or 3 swinger, wide axle, 20 or 18" tires, lowering link for the rear suspension, build the motor for top end and lower the front end a little. i did it and its fun for cranking round and round around fields!!1 YAY!

Why would you extend a swinger on a flat track bike? That makes absolutely no sense. For one thing the stock swinger is already too long with the bike lowered. Plus, it's not like the bike will want to wheelie with it lowered anyhow. Enlighten me.

Tomorrow I'm calling the guy to see if he will still make the parts to build it!! Imagine how fast you could take corners on that!!! HOLY S***!!!!

    Hi All

Do you know if Marty Hart raced flat track? His bike ran a -1 on it with a short track tank kit so I'm sure he did. I had an 86 HRC R with at +2 Westcoast on it and it fealt "big". It was also sloppy with traction. I think if I ran dirt track, I would want a stock or +2 but for what I do, I want a shorter swinger.

As some of you know, I ice race my R and win A LOT. However, there is a TRX450R that is very quick, so I need to make some changes to stay ahead. The lake never froze this year so we couldn't fight it out.

I went with a -1 because I'm not getting enough traction when I want it. What I'm going to try is this...stiffer suspension in front with a smaller front tire, -1 swinger, slightly stiffer rear and moving from a 15 front sprocket to a 14. I want to hit the corner faster (lower bike) and not have to clutch it so hard in the turn to keep the revs up (smaller sprocket and all new billet clutch). I'm also going to double stud a new set of rear tires and tune them to a counter clockwise direction. Hopefully it will give me what I'm looking for...it's a lot of changes so I hope it works.

Oh...and it does wheelie sometimes. If you lean back it will pull the front wheel all the time, even when the bike is lowered. I want to pull the wheel when I want full traction but not have to lean too far back. The only thing I worry about is the start. 2nd gear starts will pull the front wheel evert time. I will have to adjust for that.

Making an R look like a racer is easy, actually making it fast and controllable is another. Good luck in what you choose to do.
