Would you use this brake drum?

When I did my rear wheel bearings on my 200s, I found my rear drum was so pitted it was unusable. I was especially concerned about the seal surfaces, especially the inner one, because it has to be able to seal the brake dust out or you're going to be changing wheel bearings all the time. So I picked up a replacement, and it was almost as bad.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but here's some pics. Would you guys use this drum?

    No way!
You may be able to turn it down, but check the specs.....

Thanks, that's what I thought too. The guy I got it from is giving me a refund, so that's cool. Now I just need to find another one.

I would certainly try to use it. Sand blast or bead blast the inside, then true it up in a lathe. I have personally gotten by with worse looking drums, just needs some time put into it. As far as the seal goes, if it's cleaned up, it will seal, just don't spare on the grease during re-assembly. Brake dust is nothing compared to sand or mud on your bearings. Your seals should protect from any crud getting into your bearings.

There's no way the seals would survive those surfaces, no matter how much grease you used. They'd have to be smoothed out, then the diameter would be too small and it wouldn't seal anyway.
