    Boring out my 85 110

So, I want to bore out my 1985 110 motor. Is this a good way to go? Should I just buy a bigger engine and slap it into the 110's frame?

Also, a few links on pistons and such would be great. Thanks guys!

wiseco.com. If you want more power try to find a high compression pistion for it too because boring alone wont give you the effect you want. Also you might want to think about regearing.

No, I wouldn't bore just for more power. By just boring you will only gain a couple of cc's. Unfortunately the biggest engine that will bolt in is only a 125cc so that doesn't give you many more either. I would say the best way to go is to bore it the next size up just to freshen it up, find a higher compression piston, get a performance cam, performance exhaust, and then re-gear it. If you want more power then that and have deep pockets do a search, there are a few Honda 110 projects going on now by other board members.

I agree 100%! Though I will add a option. You might be able to have the motor stoked ( BIG $$$ ). This would give you more power. But it will also take away from the long term durability of the motor.

Where is the challenge in that ? I'm going overkill on mine to enter it in the kids class. One kid has 2 small cc Scramblers that always win, well its time for him to move over.

    i say do it.....for a cheap big bore i know a atc 125 piston will work....then get a cam and pipe....and maybe a 185 carb youll be set...lol

my 110 has a custom high compretion piston
    mega cycle cam
    cobra pipe
    185 carb
    and a huge port job

as long as you keep it wound up it runns real good!! but a bigger piston will add much needed tourque

So a 125 will fit into my 110 frame? If I got the 125, bored that out and got a good piston and stuff, wouldn't that be better?

For the amount of power you get.. the tradeoff is reliability.. keep the 110 as is and get something with balls if you really want to go fast..

I do understand the appeal of having a small machine that rips.. but in all honesty, the gains are not that great for the amount of money involved.

    It's like converting a trike to a quad.... what's the point ?

I remember a year or so ago some dude posted pix of a 200 motor machined all to heck with the cylinder pointing forward and it was going into a 110 but nothing came of it. Anyone remember that one?

    Found it:

Boring is not a performance modification and should not be done for that purpose. Its purpose is to clean up defects or uneven wear in the cylinder wall.

I believe that 200x was in a atc70! That would be greenhumans atc70. That thing would probably rip the eyeballs out of your sockets. I want one. I would put it in one of my suspension 70s'.

you can always do what the rednecks do, and weld a 350 sbc on the frame!
