Duel plug air cooler 250R engine

Looks like this engine has had some work done to it, I wonder if the inside has had anything cool done to it too?

I am curious, I have seen one or two of these pop up before an I always wondered, Is their any REALLY noticable performance gains with double plugs?? I guess it would lite up more of the fuel inside, but if it is so benificial, how come the companies don't do it in the firstplace??? Is there a reliabilty drawback or something?
    Thanks, Devin

I had a Maico 440 that had dual plugs too. As mentioned, it only ran one plug at a time.
