Thumbs up Finaly into Liquid Cooled R

I'm just coming back from a 15 hours trip to finaly get that awsome beast i always wanted. It's an 86R that have maybe some work to do on it but it run strong. That thing is Fu*****ly fast

I always tought my 84R was quick and fast but i made my mistake. (84R : Uni filter, 36mm flatside carb, boyseen reed valve, port polish and port timing done to it, high comp head and that almighty DG exhaust loll).

I still don't know what mod are done to the engine exept reed valve spacer and answer silencer but that thing rip like a monster.

it's quicker than my 84R a it top at approx. 85mph.

I first race against an 05 raptor and i'm faster than him out of the box.
From a rolling race i still kee up the head a take the lead over is stock top speed.

What am I asking is : Is it normal or this thing got more balls than it should???

btw here's a pic. i'll try to get more in fews days and maybe some short vids if i can .

BTW I paid 1200$cnd for it approx. 900$us i think.
I need new carrier and steering stem bearing and a good all around shock and forks rebuild. oh and a kill switch

The other pic is my restaured 84 R only need sticker to get it completely done

When there's a place to Jump, there's always a place to land. Don't matter if it's hard or not. Gotta find the limits of your trike.

I know the speed limit is 65 on the road near our fields. I can keep up with traffic for a few seconds before I have to shut it down because they plowed and ruined my track!
    So I would think 65 - 70 is possible

Please don't tell me you guys think 85mph is unreasonable for a 250cc 2 stroke that has been worked over. You claim "lucky to go 72mph"? Funny, I can get my heavier T4 up to that in 500' and still got a good bit left out the top end. 85mph for a stock engine probably not, but modded, no problem. Check out the one fella (sorry can't remember his username and not gonna go look it up, lol) who races up on the frozen lakes in MI. If I remember right, he was talking bout nearly 100 mph on his R.

As for your particular R, no idea what is going on...what YOU think is RIPPING, may be just average to some guys, or just the opposite. Yours might be amazing to others, but just so-so to you. If it is keeping up to/or beating a Raptor, it runs fine. Glad to hear you are all pumped about your new toy. Enjoy.

As a matter of fact here is a gearing calculator that says it is possible with a 22 inch tire.

Why is it so hard to believe 85mph? A 350x is capable of doing 70mph stock and the R is faster than that.

Top speed is just a product of gearing, tire size and rev limit.

You don't even need 22 inch tires. 15/36 gearing with 20's and the engine modded to rev just a little higher (9000 rpm) will get it up to just over 95mph. Almost 98mph at 15/35.

There's a huge difference between a worked motor and a stock R. Stock they're pretty tame. A good port job, carb, pipe, reeds and they feel like a different machine. Let alone a big bore top end that uses a Pro-X style cylinder like what ChrisD has.
