Just got my KX285 installed friend asked me today if I wanted to buy a KX500 motor...

Well I got the KX285 motor installed in my 86 Tecate last weekend. And today a friend of mine asked me if I would like to buy a KX500 motor. It is a 87 model and comes with everything. What do you guys think. Keep the 285 since it has already been ported and polished and big bored or go with the kx500. Also Eric Gorr told me that the motor I have will be making about 55HP at the rear wheels. Let me know some info guys. What do you think. Haven't got the KX285 motor running yet waiting on the gasket and the piston kit.

depends on the use. the kx500 is almost a bolt in. the small tube above the plug needs notched.

either engine will need an extended swinger to put the power down. i had a +2 calfab and with a modified 250 engine i still could not keep the front end down.

Keep the 285 and make a Tecate 500 Bigger Brother

Then you will have a Family of Green Beasts to beat up on all those Red and Yellow Bullies
