dude,I change my oil about every 3 to 5 rides. But I ride the sh!t out of it every ride. If I was you I would change it about every 30 days or so.....depending on how you ride it. Also use sae 30w or a good 10w40 oil.

I put those fram quick oil change adaptors on my trikes. It just simplified the oil changes as I do not require pulling any tools out. I change my oil know after every ride on my R as its only a 5 minute job tops. The thing takes next to no oil so really its no big deal. I use amsoil in all the machines. The 200 and 350X I change the oil after every other ride. Again its a 5 minute oil change.
I put a pan under the machine, connect the fram deal, and let it drain while I am putting gas cans and gear away. Remove the fram deal, add oil and its ready to go for the next run.

I got the fram idea after I got my 250R. The guy who owned it stripped the drain plug hole in the motor case. I was able to run a standard 1/2-20 tap without the need to drill. The fram quick drain screwed in and now I never have to worry about that sucker stripping again as their is no drain plug to remove.

yeah, i saw that oil drain systen thru fram... its a great idea, someone else attempted it in the past and failed.. but with all of oil plugs in cars getting stripped out its a great idea!~

Don't forget to change the oil filter on the machine also. It's on the right side.

It depends mostly on how often you ride it and how hard, and the condition of the motor. My 83 200x has probably averaged 10 miles a day for 15 years and its never had more then 3 oil changes a year. I'd stay away from the synthetics and probably stick with honda 10w 30. Get the right socket for your drain plug too, its not hard to wreck strip the corners of the plug.

How can you strip the drain plug? Do people not pay attention? I change all the oil in our vehicles whenever it's time and I've never had a problem at all. The drain plugs always finger-tight all the way up to the pan and then I just torque it down to specs, done deal.

I didn't say strip the drain plug, I meant rounding the corners of the nut.
