    blaster mods

i was thinking of buying a used blaster maybe a 2002 or if i am lucky the new body with the new brakes. anyway i was thinking of putting a fmf pipe and jet kit on it with the k&n air filter and holeshot tires and i found a write up that a guy did saying that he made a 1mm thick plate to go on the bottom of the cylinder to help with port timing... he did a lot of other crap to that i do not intend in getting involved in although i mgith send it to get ported. my question is has anyone done anything like this and did you think that it would be as fast as say a stock warrior

yeah an pipe would add some power, but if a blaster is built right they actually can be awsome, as much as i hate them they can still be built up extremely well, theres big bore kits, out there, more people will know better stuff about this but i am just throwing this out there

    Blaster

I would think that stock for stock it would depend on the rider and the distance. Blasters can be made to keep up with the big guys with a little changes in the exhaust and jetting. They have crappy rear brakes and are a smaller machine thats the only down fall that I can come up with.

I have a 93 300ex that has A 11:1, Jetted, FMF Exhaust, Rev Box and that caould take my Buddys blaster. He has a "Make your Blaster faster" kit on it which i do believe is bored .80 over. With tons of other stuff on it. He has a higher top speed but in acceleration My 300ex is faster. I weigh 250 and he weighs 170.

Buy an LRD exaust, dont waste money on FMF,DG,pro circut, etc. Those pipes are ok but crap compared to LRD.
I have aktive Carbon fiber reeds,KN filter,30mm carb, and reed spacer on my blaster; and a stock top end.At TF04 I surprised alot pf people on the drag strip. I beat a banshee or 2, 400ex, and more than a few 250cc trikes. That was a fun weekend. I might not have had the fastest machine on the strip but it was definately the fastest 200cc machine.
    Good luck with the blaster.

blasters are pertty choked up stock, go with the lrd like jim said. porting would be a good idea too, but i wouldent go too crazy on milling the head, but a little wouldent hurt.
