    Sprockets

I am sure this has been covered but I searched it and couldn't find an answer. When changing sprockets for more top end do you go more teeth on the front and less in the rear, and is this the same as going down in front and up in the rear. This is for an 85 200X thanks for the help.

To go faster (and have less low end power) put bigger sprockets on the front or smaller on the rear.

Its the exact opposite of going -1 front and +2 rear as you do on most street bikes.

Going -1 on the front and +2 on the rear of anything, ATC, ATV, or street bike will result in slower top end speed and more low speed power.

If your looking for speed go with a smaller rear sprocket and or larger front sprocket. But remember your motor has to have the power to be able to push the machine faster.

If your looking for more low end power / torqe then go larger rear sprocket and or smaller front sprocket.

below is a picture of a 83-85 200x rear sprocket that we have at the shop. This sprocket was made for ATV pulls. It's a 80 tooth sprocket and when put on a 200x using a 12 tooth front sprocket, it will make the 200x to top out at about 25-30 mph. But you can pull a car or truck with little to NO problem.
