    200x tire question

What size were the original tires on the 83-85 Honda 200x models? The ones on my 200x are 22x11x8 , but when you bottom out the rear shock, the plastic touches the tire. Whats up with that?

    200x..

My shock works fine. Heres a pic. As you can see, the tires look to be taller than stock. The tires are 100% new, and have never been ridden on. Tell me what you think is going on.

    tire circumference

i think i figured it out.
the rear tire circumference is supposed to be 68.7 inchs (1745mm )
the front tire is supposed to be 74.6 inchs (1895mm )

those rears are overinflated big time ! the front is supposed to look bigger then the backs. maybe let the air pressure down to a couple of pounds.

Overinflation tends to break the cords in the carcasses. Hope they are ok.

    overinflation

The tires cant be overinflated, they barely have any air in them. I think they must be a diffrent brand or something. They do vary you know. Are you sure the ones on the back of yours are 22x11x8?? You can tell mine are diffrent, because of the tread pattern, mine have little square knobs. I dont know. Can anyone help??

    tires

I've owned quite a few 22 inch tires and found everykind to be different. I have 22 inch Kenda dirt dogs now and they are the tallest i've owned yet. I doubt overinflation is the problem from what I see in your picture, you could fill them to a hundred pounds and they wouldn't get that tall. I've had 25 inch tires on my 200x with a dead shock and the machine never once bottomed out enough for the tires to hit the fenders. From first glance of your picture i'd swear those wear 25's, maybe somebody stamped them wrong...

    shock

Try tightening your shock. My x almost touches the tire when someone sits on the six-pack rack. My shock is soft.

    my X

The rear tires on my 200x are Cheng Shin's 22x11x8's. They must be a taller make, because I took a tire off my Yamaha Tri Moto 200, and they are Carlisle 22x11x8, and the Cheng Shins were taller, and a lot skinnier. My shock is 3/4 of the way tightened down as well, and today I had a friend of mine come over and sit on it. He weighs over 300lbs, and the plastic sure did touch the tire when he sat on it.

Just another little story, when I let him (he insisted) ride my YTM 200 today, he sat on it and the tires almost went flat, and the front forks were bottomed. When he took off, the thing did a wheelie, and he fell off. Then it cept rolling and crashed into my other friends Polaris Scrambler, and it nearly drove right up on top of it. Im suprised nothing got broke. The thing got flooded, and it took me like half an hour to get started. Well at least he let me ride his 2002 Yamaha Big Bear 400.LOL

I have the same tires on my 200x, cheng shin 22x11x8 and I noticed that my left tire is taller and skinnier than my right tire, its pretty stupid because now it leans to the right because of the smaller, fatter tire.

Tighten the spring perch adjuster (The big big toothed ring on top of the spring) This will raise the rear ride height and might help. Also not all tires measure out alike. The stock tires on the X had a round profile where yours appear to be more of a flat profile.
