    Which 2-stroke?

I'm looking to get a 2-stroke 3 wheeler for the summer, and would like some opinions on the 3 that I know of.

    Yamaha Tri-Z 250, Kawasaki Tecate 250, and Honda 250r

I'm looking for the most "violent" one, like a YZ490 vs a CR500, the YZ is much more violent than the CR, but speeds arent that much different.

So far I'm leaning towards the Tecate, the bore and stroke suggest it would have a snappy powerband, and it weighs the least out of the 3. Although I've always been a Yamaha guy.

A good High-end is also important.

I think any of those 3 could be "violent" with the right mods. Just really a matter of choice and what your going to be doing with it. I know overall the 250r seems to be the most popular, but the tecate is faster, and the Tri Z is bigger in size.

    Stock? Tecate. No doubt.

    Modified? 250R. More aftermarket support.

200XBasket has a 500R for sale with some sweet custom work put into it. How much you looking to spend?

Most violent, 85 Tecate without a doubt.

Wow, a 500R, I heard about Tri-Z's being able to handle yz490 motors too, unfortunatly I don't have the kind of money I'm sure he is asking. Restoring the 490 and modifying it (510cc now, a list of performance parts) sucked me dry. I'm just looking for a side toy now, and a Tecate with a pipe would be perfect it seems

How are those things on High End? (long stretches)

    Tecate

The Mean Green Machine is what you want if you like to go fast. Honda is a bit easier to get parts Im not sure about the Tri-Z's But I like their look. Think Green

Not to hijack this thread, but why is the 85 better than the 86? I would think the other way around...

The 86 is powervalved adding to the bottom end power and making the transition into the midrange smoother.

The 85 has no powervalve and has an awsome hit when it comes on the pipe in the higher revs, usually carrying the front wheel the whole time.

It isn't. Not by a long shot. It's just what the original poster was asking for. "Most violent" powerband at least in stock trim is definitely a Tecate. The 84-85 might feel a little more powerful due to lesser suspenion but they're not more potent than the 86-87 T3 motors or anything.

From owning and riding both at the same time in the past, my opinion is that the 86 Tecate has more power and a bit smoother delivery. The 84/85 Tecate motor has the classic "light-switch" power-band. Not much off the bottom but when they hit, they HIT. And it is more violent than the 86.
