As far as how, it depends on your photo editor program, but you can resize the picture smaller, crop it, and when you go to save it as a jpg file, there is normally some kind of adjustment for how much compression you want to use. More compression= less clarity but smaller file size. You want your file size to be under 50K, preferably under 30K for posting.
