    new rider, engine trouble?

    new 3 wheeler rider.
just got a 1985 yamaha 125 tri moto. i was never a two stroke rider before now. when i bought the bike the engine ran great, untill i hit the gas to go faster. at the top end of the gears the bike sounds like it wants to stall. i figured it was the carb, so i took it apart, there was a little dirt. after i put it back together i took it to a local spot. still did it untill it warmed up then when i hit the gas it bogged down before taking off. i only know a little about engine fix its and repair. any ideas on the problem? also is the proper mix 20 to 1 or 32 to 1?

Welcome to the world of owning a Nasty 2 Stroke! Carbs or ignition, or both. MAke sure the carb is clean with stock jets for whatever weather it is. Even more important is the float and fuel level. Premix at 35:1 - 40:1 is usually good. If it still acts weak, then its probably ignition problems.

Oh, and compression check too, 2 strokes eat rings pretty fast.
