    1984 Kawasaki KXT 250 Tecate

I am new to this site and I am hopeing you guys can help. I am in need of some parts and a manual. I need the rubber boot that goes between the carb and reed cage, and also a rear shock. I just picked this trike up last week and plan on tearing it down and rebuilding it. Parts are not too easy to find for this trike. When I redid a Honda 200X I had no problems finding parts. Thanks Joel

Hello and welcome to the site.
Good luck finding that rubber boot between the carb and reed cage, I too need one for my 86 tecate and have been looking for a while. I think your best bet would be ebay. I hear a Raptor shock will work check out this thread http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/s...4+tecate+shock

Raptor shock just about bolts up. You need to redrill the top mount on the Tecate larger and use a 12 mil bolt and it needs some washers to make it solid. Good mod though as the Raptor shock is really strong and adjustable.

The carb boot you should be able to buy new, I got one new from the dealer.

Parts are easy to find, you just need to know where to look.

www.motovan.com has a nice online catalogue. Just search Tecate.

Good luck with the rebuild, they are real fun trikes!

Hey thanks for all the replys, Went to the dealer for the rubber boot and they told me no way, but I might try another dealer. I ordered a Raptor shock today and it's on its way. Thanks again.

2001 raptor is the year you need. they have a remote resivior(sp). 2002 to current have a piggyback style resivior. for it to truly look right you have to take the hose off of the tecate shock and ressy and put it on the raptor shock that way everything can be bolted back up in to the factory locations.

if you need a manual go to www.repairmanual.com and look up the tecate.

I bought one from them and its just like to old factory service manual. good deal.

From what I've seen it does not matter. I have a 2001 on mine with the remote resivor but Tecatecrazy has the piggyback style on his so any year fits.

I cut and ground off the old resivor mounts on my frame and mounted the new resi with hose clamps with some rubber hose between the frame and resi.

The Intake boot is NOT avalible from the dealer,(I called today 4-5-06). It is the same as a KDX 250 81-84 and a KX 250 82-84. So you can keep a lookout for used ones from those bikes also. Hope this helps some. Good Luck

Well I bought MINE new last year. On that note, all year KX boots and the way they mount seem to be the same. Best bet is to buy a Boyseen Rad Valve with the boot included for the KX 250 if you can't find one anywhere else.

You can call local shops to see if one is avalible, they may have one in stock but they are discontinued so it can not be ordered. If you are not going for an original restore then go aftermarket. Most boots may look the same and may work but and exact match are the ones listed. This info came right from my local Kawasaki dealer (which is also my Wife). If you are outside of the US some other parts may be avalibe that are now discontinued in the US, and parts avalibility cans change at any time.(as we see with all the Honda stuff like the Ohtsu tires recently have been discontinued. Any other info that you may need let me know.

The oldest Boyseen Rad Valve with the boot for the KX 250 I could find was for a 1987. Do you think that would fit my motor and stock carb.

if you want a killer induction setup go to www.1dirracing.com and look up the power curve reed valves. look for the 82-05 KX250 reed valve setup.

the 83-84 Kx 250 engine are almost identical to the 84-85 KXT engine. the port work for both engines are different and I think thats it.
