If you throw a 350x carb on your sx let me know how it works out. I tryed one on my 250sx here and the idle slowly crept up while at idle. I think it had a 132 main jet and a 38 slow.

Unless you change the exhaust and open up the airbox then put the stock SX jets in the 350X carb. If you do run an AM exhaust and no air box lid then the stock 350X jets will work fine but the main jet could stand to be upsized a size or 2.

If the machine is stock go with stock jets. Mine with the pipe, filter, no air box lid still runs rich with a 135 main.

thanks dirtcrasher. My sx has given me carb troubles ever since. one of the holes in the original sx carb is drilled crooked. I have seen this before on huge lots of mikuni's. Does the 350x carb greatly improve the SX? Can anyone tell me stock 85' SX carb settings? Jets, clip position and others?

and yes even if it is pure stock it makes a great difference in the machine. When I had it on mine pure stock like I had the 135 main and all the other stuff was 350x positions. And as long as you played with the A/F screw it would idle fine.
