    would this work?

I have an 84r, and from searching around, I found that swinger parts are non existant or very pricey!!! I was looking at my daughters 300ex and it got me to thinkin...would it hurt the carrier if I was to take it, invert it, and weld it onto the rear of my swinger? with a RAD carrier inside it, I dont see how it would hurt it to run with the sprocket on the right side like the 84. If I used say, a rear carrier from a 400ex or 450r, I could then have the option of wider axles, better brakes, different brake rotors, better bearing carriers and so on....what do you think? Would it hurt to run it upside down?

no but you may have alignment issues.are the 2 carriers the same in length, and diameter?

I dont think the length or diameter would matter. As long as I line up the sprockets, then tack it off to the swinger, it should be ok...as far as the alignment is concerned, that shouldnt be a problem either, just have to measure twice, tack weld it once! I would use everything from the 400, the brake setup and mounts,so that would make it easier. Im thinking the only problem might be if it moved over too far to one side to line up the sprocket, it would put the tires off center. I didnt think about that part. Dave
