I have a 86 and there good bikes. Check tires for patches/leaks, check suspension for bound & rebound, if your gonna kick it over for the "starts first kick" make sure the engine hasn't been warming up before you got there. Look for smoke. Go through all RPM ranges. Go through all 6 gears if you can.

    The transmission pattern is 1 down, 1/2 up for N, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Check the rear bearings play, take the grabber and move it back and forth to see if theres play.
Check for leaks, gears work, clutch, and make sure it revs out.

Since its an 87 it would be worth a little more then a 86. I got my 86 in good condition for 700. Your in California, and things tend to be more expensive over there. It really depends on what it needs. Things like bearings are cheap, but plastics can run you quite a bit. Have you talked to the seller? I wouldn't pay over 700 really.

Get some pictures, thats one thing needed to really tell. Allso, see if it has stock exhaust, plastics, handlebars, swingarm, tires, rims, and chasis. If you could get some pics that would be great!

Well you really need pictures and such. If the plastics are trashed, I can pretty much garuntee its not worth 700.More like 500.
