    Tecate Crank

Alright fellas I rebuilt my bottom end last month and today when I was tinkering around in the shed I noticed I can pull the crank assembly side to side with the flywheel end just a little.

In the manual its only two gears and a circlip holding the sucker in place so it seems to be just floating.

    ???

Too much to ask for a Tecate guy to pull the stator cover and push/pull on the flywheel?

dude i have my flywheel exposed right now, i am in the process of rebuilding from bottom to top as well. i cant move my crank at all from side to side, however my magnets off the flywheel and its locked up. so i dont know if that would have a factor. i can only turn it maybe a couple of millimeters and it locks. i have another bottom end onits way from arkansas, it should be here within a few days, when i get it i will check it. the bottom end is supposed to be ok, but only time will tell.

Thanks Scoot. I went out about 2 hours ago and tore it down to the crank again. Split the cases and tried to pop out the bearing and install it the way the manual states. Ruined the seal and got a fine load of shed dirt in the bearing. Going to match up the seal and bearing tomorrow or the next day. I know my way around the bottom end now at least. D'oh! lol.

Sounds like you had the incorrect Or spun bearing in there if you can pull your crank back and forth...it shouldnt Move at All....

No the problem was with the installation I'm afraid. You install the left case bearing and seal first, then the right side seal, then slide the right side bearing onto the crank and put the cases together by ing around the bearing housing to make everything snug. Its stupid but thats what I get for not following the manual.

Good to know. I know the procedure for installing the second bearing so it will be solid when I get my new bearing/seal.

You should heat the bearing up Drop it on the crank then let it cool, and put the crank seal in, use a large socke around the end of the crank to tap the seal in evenly, Pressing the bearing on (ing) Mess's with the integity of the bering being Double pressed.........
