I paid I think about $90 for a brand new carb for my Vmax540. The SRV is a fan cooled 540, with single carb? The Vmax540 is liquid cooled, with 2 carbs. While the displacement is the same, I was told the Vmax carb is totally different than the SRV carb. I guess the Vmax carbs are bigger.

Unless I am wrong, you have an XLV carb on it right now, if I remember right from the SRV board. That carb will work, it's just a hair smaller than the SRV carb. You may not have quite as much top end, and may have to rejet a touch, too.
